Hey! My name’s Connor and I’m a speedway rider, originally from Perth in Western Australia. I had my first shot on a speedway bike aged 12 at a demonstration day on the premise of a free sausage sizzle, and I was hooked ever since! (to the speedway that is, although the sausages were awesome)
After two great seasons of racing in Perth at Pinjar Park Speedway and having won major trophies there in the 125cc class, I decided it was time to step it up a level and verse some of the best riders from the Eastern states of Australia.
To do this, I needed to move somewhere central to all the tracks of different shapes, sizes and materials over there to give me vital skills required to progress further with my speedway race-craft.
We uprooted our lives, Mum, Dad and I moved to Mildura leaving my brother, sister and extended family behind, as it was logistically more practical in regard to all the tracks on the Eastern side of Australia.
This was a big commitment from all of us, but it proved to pay off, as I won both the 125cc and 250cc classes of the 8 round Rockoil/LKI National series for two consecutive seasons after I arrived, along with many other major cups and trophies throughout the course of the seasons.
In May 2019, after a few successful years racing in Australia, the call came and myself and my family immigrated to the UK, more specifically to Glasgow, to sign for professional side the Glasgow Tigers.
My parents have always been so supportive of me and moved over with me to give me the best possible opportunity to fulfil my dreams of eventually becoming Speedway World Champion. To many that’s a far-fetched dream but to me it’s what I have been working to achieve for as long as I can remember.
I started with motocross, road racing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Cross-Country Running, each of these disciplines, I aspired to reach the top of, and I’ll do all I can to get there. In my opening season in the UK, I rode in both the National Development league for the Belle Vue Colts and in the SGB Championship for the Glasgow Tigers.
I played a vital part in both teams’ season and did what I set out to do in both and performed above expectations. I represented both sides all over the UK, from Eastbourne to Edinburgh clocking up hundreds of miles every week in my van but that’s just part of the job!
Unfortunately, the 2020 season never went ahead due to COVID-19. Myself and my family actually went back to Australia early in the year for my sister's wedding, right around the time restrictions came into play. Consequently, I was stuck in Australia for over a year.
Soon after restrictions were lifted, we made the call to return to the UK. Risky as it may have been at the time, with COVID and threat of restrictions, we decided that it was what was best for my continued development in the UK.
If you have any questions regarding my merchandise, please get in touch with me so we can talk about it.
